okay, listen, this might be a bit bitey for some people, so listen.

or read, whatever.

these are headcanons, none of them are canon whatsoever. if you don't see them the same way i do, then you're right! but the way you see them is also wrong.

this also deals with gender, so if any character you see as having the same gender as you resulting in you identifying with them and i see them as different, then i didn't mean anything by it, it's just that your and my brains work differently, so we both percieve things somewhat differently, with a few occasional overlapping traits present in the original thing.

also, the ways i percieve them don't have to be the ways you percieve them as. you don't owe me to have same perspective i do about this sort of thing.

alright, are we cool? i hope we're cool, because if you get mad at anything (no offense! you have the right to not like something!), then i've had already warned you like 3 times now.

since you're still reading, i'll assume you're cool with it.

okay, calming down...

yabusame houlen

male(he/they)

just because of feels, i can't see them as anything else. if someone else dipicts him as female, then i'll shut up, sit down and listen, but whenever i think about them, i just think "that's a guy".

tsubakura enraku

female

maybe this is because of my interpretation of reimu (as well as an oc of mine), that i can't help but think of the "tired of everyone's shit before they even do anything" archetype that she fills as being filled by a woman.

"the monad"

female(collectively), female(monad-2), male(monad-1), male(monad-3)

just due to vibes, and me seeing 'monad-2' as the dominant personality.

kurohebi

male

mostly due to the snake insporation.

aoji

female

maybe due to the meekness? i dunno, it just feels more right to me.

hooaka

male(?)

my thoughts are that (and i say this as a guy,) only men are capable of this level of dumbassery(affectionate). i put the (?) there due to the two souls thing, probably similar to 2spirit, but i can't pretend that i know the specifics of it. also, unrelated, but i see him as muscular due to the "physically the strongest of the shitodo siblings" thing, not buff muscular, but jacked enough to notice.

kuroji

trans-male

i've started out seeing him as male, but due to a certain """"fanwork"""", i've started seeing him with more feminine traits.

"zenryaku"

male

my "thoughts" are that (and i say this as a guy,) only "men" are capable of this "level" of "dumbassery"(derogatory).

tsurubami

female

due to her being the 'mugenri' to reimu's 'gensokyo'.

jun

female

no reason, just felt like it.

shou

agender(they/them)

see above. gender is one of the last things i think about when i see them. also, slugs have no gender.

lumen

male

due to me misreading their name as 'lumien' (like 'damien') for the longest time. i'm barring the skirt from my perseption, due to how i think that men in fiction (and in real life too, i guess,) should be allowed to wear skirts (i even imagine mike walters from WOE.BEGONE as wearing a skirt and no-one minding (he hates the police, does he sound like someone who likes gender expectations?).)

hibaru

male

his outfit and mannerisms just feels masculine to me.

sukune

female

she feels too cute and moe to not be a girl.

yaorochi

male

in a 'bishounen' way.

tasouken

agender

that's a sword.

saragimaru

male

in a 'teenage rebel' way.

jinbei

male

normally people with his personality would've gotten slotted into the 'feminine' slot in my brain, but his design has a 'tough-guy' flair that skews me the other way.

sese

agender(any pronouns)

"what gender are you?" "i'm dead!".

tsugumi

genderfluid, female(RMI), male(BPoHC)

i saw them as female when i first saw her, then as male the next time. maybe it changes depending on what they're riding.

iyozane

female

due to her gensokyo-residing relative.

fumikaido

female

her vibes just fills the 'muscular women' reigon of my brain.

shion

female

she's just a cute little innocent girl!

(what do you mean she's an all-consuming eldritch mass of souls?)

tenkai

male

he has the "confident and cocky" vibe that yuugi has, but he just slays in a masculine way in his work outfit that it just sways it the other way. his casual outfit (and by extension, the preschool team's route) feels like him getting in touch with his more feminine side. so all in all, 10/10 husband material. sorry, what were we talking about? headcanons? right, so i imagine that's he's taller than me (i'm 6 ft.), and he would totally top me-

mitsumo

agender(he/him)

he doen't have the femininity for him to really identify as female, on top of him not possessing a human form. and no, him literally possessing a human girl doesn't count.

souko

male(he/they)

he's lived for so long that he's stopped caring about his own gender identity and just defaulted to male-ish.

medias

neogender(ze/zhi/zir)

ze just feels too out of place in the three pronoun groups that everyone else* identifies with, that zhi just made zir own that ze like the most!

kujiru

agender(any pronouns)

gender doesn't really describe the nature of shikigami in a way that's meaningful to them, so he's cool with you calling her anything!

kunimitsu

male

he doesn't really stick out in my mind all that much, but his appearance looks kinda masculine. plus, counting both touhou and len'en (which, meta-wise, we shouldn't rule out doing entirely,) we have enough female yokai exterminators, so a man being one is a nice change of pace! (i don't think what yabusame is doing really counts as youkai extermination, since they're just doing whatever.)

kaisen

agender(he/him)

see above(kujiru), however he identifies as male just slightly more, so he just goes with masculine pronouns.

kaoru

kao-who?

garaiya

male

he's cute, but in a boyish way. plus, he seems like the guy-type.

sanra

female

also due to her gensokyo-dwelling family member, but also because a lady being so over-the-top-militarily themed is kinda funny.

para

female

she just gives off the bratty-child feel, even if it's justified for her.

mitori

bigender(he/she)

she gives off partygirl vibes, but also feels like he's the well-intentioned teen-type. even with the third-person talk.

chouki

female

mostly the outfit.

xeno a

bigender(they/them)

not because they independently display the two mainstream gender roles at different times, in my eyes, but because they do both.

yago

male

due to their name sounding like YAGOO, hololive's CEO.

haiji senri

male

in the sloppy wet rat of a guy sense.

NiLU (case sensitive)

male

due to the appearance.

tom c. zemlja

male

due to the name.
