(under construction!)
i'm sebastian, LocalNerdCase on here, i'm an internet person with neurodivergence and several dreams.
my interests mostly include things related to art, like games/videos/music/other stuff like illustration. i make art of my own, but i don't always post it online, maybe i'll have a link to a website that i post art on later, who knows.
here's my tumblr account! i say things there sometimes.
i also have a newgrounds page! i might do some things there sometimes.
ms paint.
people give it a bad rap, but i think that's it's good enough to use. every drawing on this site is made using it. i think that it's a bit weird for the eraser to not have options below 4px wide, but whatever.
GIMP.
people don't really talk about it much, since it isn't really primarily an art program, but i find that it works well enough for my purposes. those being, if i need to make an image with transparency and/or multiple layers.
blender.
the single most talked about and well-respected thing i have used regularly. so far i've only made unfinished unreleased 2d animations, but i am working on them every so now and again, when i finish one, i'll make a youtube account where you can see it.
where to find: it's on youtube, as well as netflix.
i was there when the first premiere came, i was there when meta runner came out, i was there while smg4 had it's old models. you've likely heard about this, but i love it. it's so dark and fucked at times, and the surreal humour i came to love from gooseworx is on full display.
where to find: it's on steam.
the game that inspired my whole asthetic, as well as my all-time favorite game. it's a bullet-hell roguelike, and pretty much the game that inspired people to make so many roguelikes. the most recent dlc is going through a bit of a rough patch, and from what i understand still doesn't have mod support unlike the other ones. if you're interested in playing, i recommend getting the other 3 dlcs for the best experience, since the devs patch the dlcs instead of the base game (for some reason).
where to find: it's an anime, make of that what you will.
if you haven't heard about this already, it's a dungeonpunk fantasy anime about a lizard dude trying to get revenge on the person who turned him into a lizard. it's a 3dcg anime, but it's one of the upper echelons of 3dcg, where you can't even tell that it's cgi at times. there's also a manga if that's more your thing.
where to find: anywhere you can find music. (here's their website!)
a music circle which specialize in vocaloid songs, with the theme of different "flavors" of a certain topic, and not just food as their debut hit and branding would imply. i originally had a section here about how they don't usually use the more popular vocaloids using miku and teto as an example, but their two most recent (as of now) songs directly star miku and teto so uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i've also seen a roblox game called "forsaken" use the songs as inspiration for skins in the game. (...although it only really makes sense for butcher vanity to be there, considering the more tragic-ish nature of their other songs, but they already exist soooo...)
where to find: anywhere you can find music. (here's their website!)
they're a vocaloid producer, mostly specializing in songs with dark topics and intense instrumentals. one thing that i find notable to note down, and while other vocaloid producers do this too, they commonly draw characters with lore to compliment their songs that (usually) aren't explicitly the offical characters attached to the voice packs. we know basically nothing about them as a person, not even a face or a voice, best we got is text.
where to find: it's on steam and goes on sale all the time, it's also on itch for 10$.
if you haven't heard of this hidden gem, then you're not alone and you should really amend that. normally i'm not into high-fantasy stuff, but this does enough interesting things with it's story for me to give it a pass. the game itself is an action platformer, with some exploration/collection mechanics-hey, wait, where are you going? i promise this is interesting! i've never actually played the game myself, but if want to, then you should!
where to find: it's on it's own site, but please use the unofficial collection if you can help it. there's also the currently ongoing let's read by voxus on youtube.
a webcomic of epic proportions, the length can be intimidating to some, but i've read it 3 different times by this point, so if i can so can you. there are a few slurs in the earlier parts, (it started in 2009, make of that what you will,) as well as some adjecent material, (also available in the collection,) but there is a slur replacement mod available if you wish. also there are some flashier parts that might trigger some people. the artstyle has directly inspired my own, as well as the trolls' society inspiring me to think about how a non-human society would function.
...what?
...yes, i know about the biteier parts of the fandom. i try not to pay attention or associate with them.
(...i'm a propitian witch of heart!)
where to find: should be available here on the offical publisher's website.
a ttrpg about mechs. the setting can be best described as titanfall/gundam with way less conscern about death that occasionally gets interupted by metaphysical eldritch math. i've never actually played a game, but from what i heard, it's very rule-heavy, with most of the focus being put on your mech. i did, however, do something that most lancer fans will never: i actually own a physical copy of the core rulebook!
where to find: it's free, and the wiki has good links to the games as well as to english patches for each game. here's the official website for the creators of the series, if that's more your thing.
this series can be best described as "in the same medium as touhou", being a shmup series with a focus on individual characters' personalities and relationships. i've played EE and i can say- and forgive my language but- it is fucking hard, not as hard as you're thinking, but still. if you just wanna read about it, that's cool too. none of the characters have any canonical gender aside from the two that do, and the creator has invited the community to come up with their own interpretations of them (if you want to read my interperetations of their genders/gender identities and are thoroughly familiar with len'en, click here).
where to find: right here!
this project has a lot of cool and freaky monster designs, and the level of detail and sheer creativity has directly inspired the format that my 'Imperfect Fantasy' project takes on this website in it's current state. the world currently has a tabletop rpg in the works that's (judging from the page currently,) in the tail-end of development. from what i have gathered, it was originally a freaky parody of pokemon, but has since diversified into it's own thing.
where to find: it's an anime, make of this what you will. (warning! VERY nsfw! you probably shouldn't watch this without headphones and/or while anyone else is awake.)
from what i've heard, this anime was first concieved when a bunch of japanese dudes watched a bunch of western cartoons while drunk, asked themselves "what if we made that?", and the end result is the best thing ever. it's one of the last animes that was made by gainax before some stuff happened that i don't know about and became studio trigger.
where to find: i've read it on dynasty scans, but if you can get a copy from somewhere that'll support the original author, you should!
a slice of life 4koma manga about a shut-in girl who has mushrooms growing on her head from the 2 years she spent hiding in her closet finally getting the courage to go to school. (warning! it's a bit NSFW at points!) i stumbled across it while browsing tv tropes, as i usually do, and figured that i might as well try to find it and read a bit of it to see what the huge deal with it is, and figure that if i didn't love it, i wouldn't worry about it. i power-read the whole thing in one afternoon. i can't really tell you anything more about it without spoiling it, the fact that it has spoilers i'm keeping shut about is in and of itself, a spoiler. (...heck, the warning that it was a bit nsfw at times it probably also a spoiler...)
it was written by the author of girl's last tour, and crosses over a bit with it.
where to find: there are currently steam pages for the more recent games, though you might need to do some digging for the earlier ones as well as english patches if you don't speak japanese.
this series was the first thing to inspire the creation of Imperfect Fantasy (originally spawning out of a "wario-like touhou" idea). it's has been going on for more than 20 years at this point, so you're not going to be starved for content with it. the series itself it primarily a bullet-hell shmup, though there is also some side-games which experiment with different genres and gameplay styles, as well as print works which focus more on the characters and the world than the games do.
it's pretty well known for having a pretty relaxed copyright, allowing people (with very specific, but undertandable guidelines,) to make money off fanworks. personally i love akatsuki records and shinra-bansho, both circles that make music. you've likely heard of luna nights, which is a whole fanmade commercial game that people have made playthroughs on.
where to find: it's on steam.
it's not unlikely that you've heard of this game already. this game's lore's creativity is the type of remix of an older story that i strive to do in my work. the game tries to replicate the quake/doom shooters of old visually, with the gameplay of devil may cry, but quickly goes off the rails into it's own thing. the lore and setting is loosely inpired by dante's inferno, resulting in my personal favorite depiction of hell. the gameplay is hella (heh) adrenaline-inducing, the way i love it.
where to find: anywhere you can find music, really.
i garantee you that if you're in this deep on the web, then you've heard of will wood. i don't know if i can describe his music in a way that someone else already has. i listen to his music regularly while i do other things, though his music is easy for me to listen on it's own due to the meaning he usually puts into his lyrics. he also has a concert movie called "the real will wood" that outside of some clips and some of the live songs i haven't seen.
